Budget retail chain with 600 stores to open new store on Saturday | UK | News

A popular UK homeware retailer is set to open its first Watford branch this week – bringing bargains, an in-store bakery and over 15,000 sq. ft. of shopping space to the town.

Home Bargains, the discount chain known for its “Top Brands, Bottom Prices” motto, will officially open its Watford location this Friday, August 9, at the Waterfields Way retail park. The new shop will take over the former Sports Direct and David’s Bridal units. Doors open from 8am, with customers expected to line up early to explore what the store has to offer. The arrival marks a significant moment for local shoppers, who have long requested a Home Bargains store in the area.

For years, the retailer was a regular feature in online polls asking which brands locals most wanted to see open in Watford. Until now, the company had cited a lack of suitable large retail space – a challenge now solved with the Waterfields Way site.

The 15,414 sq. ft. store will stock a wide variety of homeware, food, toiletries, health and beauty products, seasonal items, and more. It will also feature a dedicated in-store bakery, offering fresh breads and pastries daily.

Lana Zirdzina, store manager of the new branch, said: “It is my first new store opening and I feel honoured to bring Home Bargains to Watford. I’m excited to be a part of the Watford community and deliver not only great service but top brands for bottom prices.

“The new store is well situated to meet the needs of locals – easily accessible by car and just as easy on foot. We really will have something for everyone, all under one local roof.”

Founded in Liverpool, Home Bargains has grown to become one of the UK’s fastest-growing retailers, operating over 600 stores and employing more than 27,000 people nationwide. On its website, the company claims it is currently opening new locations almost every weekend.

Its expansion continues to be backed by a strong logistics network, including two major distribution centres and a third under construction at Omega Business Park in the Northwest of England.
