The release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Netflix trailer about the sporting world of polo has gained mixed reactions online with some fans stating they’ll give the documentary a “hard pass” after seeing it has been produced by the royal pair.

In a two-minute teaser, Netflix released footage with the caption: “Polo, a behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced and glamorous world of the sport, is coming to Netflix on December 10.

“Follow elite global players on and off the field as they compete in the high-stakes U.S. Open Polo Championship. From executive producers Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Fans have been quick to rush to X, voicing their opinion on the new release by the Montecito-based dup.

X user, @ViQueenie wrote: “Hard pass! Anything with the word Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is immediately tossed in the trash compactor!”

Whereas, @CabroneDogs wrote: “I made it through 40 seconds of the trailer and got bored. No thanks.”

Another questioned the elite sport: “Polo might seem like just a sport for the elite, but a Netflix dive into its high-stakes world could surprise a lot of people. With Harry and Meghan involved, it’s bound to mix glamour with a bit of drama… let’s see if it delivers more than just pretty visuals.”

Some fans, however, are eager to watch the Netflix release in December. One fan, @GambitMeta, wrote: “Never thought I’d be excited to see a polo documentary.”

Whereas another said: “Netflix bringing the drama, the action, and the *royal* touch to the polo field! Can’t wait to dive into this world of power, prestige, and passion on December 10!”

However, Peta, a charity that campaigns to end animal abuse, has previously criticised the sport ahead of the Duke and Duchess’s Netflix show release and said that polo is “hard on horses” and that “while it’s easy to be wooed by the glitz on display at the matches, there is no doubt that polo is more grim than glamourous for the horses”.

With this in mind, one fan wrote: “This is a celebration of animal cruelty. These aren’t athletes, they are animal abusers.”

Also appearing in the trailer is Harry’s best friend and polo champion, Nacho Figueras. He has previously spilled the beans about the project and playing polo at the highest level.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Nacho shared just how much playing polo means to Prince Harry: “We’ve been working on this for a long time. It was always Harry’s dream and passion to share with the world, what it takes to be a really competitive polo player and show polo at the highest level.”

He added: “I cannot think of many people that can be better than him to be the kickoff of this storytelling.”

Polo has long been a favoured sport of the Royal Family, with Harry frequently playing with his older brother Prince William during his royal days.
