Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper was removed from the NFL’s commissioner exempt list on Friday.

Cooper, 28, has yet to be allowed to practice or play in games this season, but will now be available to play in Denver’s Week 7 matchup against the Cardinals.

Commissioner Roger Goodell placed Cooper on the exempt list on Aug. 30 after he was arrested twice in June on domestic violence charges.

Cooper is facing a felony charge and three misdemeanors stemming from the two incidents.

An arrest affidavit detailed that Cooper and his girlfriend were taken into police custody following an altercation at his apartment.

Cooper and his girlfriend were allegedly arguing over cheating allegations when the woman “grabbed Cooper’s phone from him and threw it across the room, then picked it up to go through it,” the report stated.

The pair then got into a physical altercation while Cooper took his phone back from her, according to the report.

According to the affidavit, Cooper “braced his neck against [her] neck to prevent her from getting his phone” and then bit and broke the phone.

In a social media post Friday, Cooper said that he has been “working to better myself” while awaiting trial.

“Playing in the NFL and representing the Denver Broncos is a privilege I do not take for granted,” Cooper wrote. “I’m grateful to ownership, my teammates, coaches and everyone in the organization for their support as well as Commissioner Goodell and the league for the opportunity to return.

“Over the last several months, I’ve spent a lot of time working to better myself. That work will continue. My focus is on being the best person, father, teammate and member of this community I can be. I will show that commitment through my actions every day.”

Cooper can still face additional discipline from the league at a later date, according to the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
