Brits name next generation of 'Hollywood legends' – and there's a clear frontrunner

Tom Holland, Margot Robbie and Zendaya are being hailed as the future legends of Hollywood, according to a survey conducted amongst Brits. English actress Florence Pugh, known for her roles in Dune: Part Two and Oppenheimer, and Willy Wonka’s Timothee Chalamet also made it into the top five. Austin Butler, who played Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biographical drama, ‘Elvis’, also featured in the list. Meanwhile, other famous names on the list include American heartthrob Sydney Sweeney and former Queen’s Gambit star, Anya-Taylor Joy.

The study was commissioned by Compare the Market, which found that the majority of Brits believe the UK should have its own iconic film landmark. To kickstart the idea and celebrate 10 years of movies, the price comparison app has erected a giant replica of Los Angeles’ renowned ‘Hollywood’ sign but in Hollywood, Worcestershire.

The research revealed that 48 percent of Brits go through their weeks on ‘autopilot’ – with 55 percent desperate for midweek entertainment, not just weekends.

Four in 10 rarely go out and do anything on worknights. Now, they are ‘actively looking’ for ways to break up their midweek routine.

Steve Nissen, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, commented: “It’s not every day you see the Hollywood sign pop up halfway across the world – let alone in another place called Hollywood.

“We’re thrilled to see our iconic sign reimagined in Worcestershire and proud to share a little piece of Hollywood with our friends in the UK.”

Here are the top 10 actors Brits believe will become Hollywood legends:

  1. Tom Holland
  2. Margot Robbie
  3. Zendaya
  4. Florence Pugh
  5. Timothee Chalamet
  6. Austin Butler
