Brits’ most cherished memories revealed – from holding a newborn to a first kiss

According to research, Brits will experience five unforgettable moments at least five times a year, with three-quarters believing these unique experiences help define their identity.

These pivotal moments include cradling your newborn child, witnessing a baby’s initial steps, or seeing your child off on their first day of school. But it’s not just all about children, other key moments included going for your first drive alone after passing your test, witnessing a rare natural phenomenon or bringing a new pet home.

Samsung commissioned the study to commemorate the launch of the large screen optimised Galaxy Z Fold7, releasing a poem titled ‘Life Unfolds Fast’, narrated by Martin Kemp and written by poet Georgie Jones.

The poem explores the milestones that shape our lives, while the film features intimate moments from Martin’s family life and real-life footage from people of different ages, backgrounds, and identities.

“Some of my life’s greatest memories are those simple moments at home,” Martin said, “playing with my kids in the garden, holding Harley and Roman as babies, and singing with my wife in the car.”

“These are moments that truly define our lives,” Martin added. “Sharing these personal glimpses allows people to see how small, intimate moments become the big memories we want to go back to over again.”

The majority of people regularly revisit cherished memories on their phones either to reflect on special moments, boost their mood, or share their good times with others.

In fact, two thirds value their digital memories just as much as physical keepsakes.

But almost half worry about forgetting important life events, as they expressed concern about losing memories involving loved ones.

For almost half, taking photos and videos is key to holding onto these experiences.

Typically, adults will revisit these key memories on their phones around four times a month, and 12 per cent estimate they have more than 10 hours of footage stored.

Annika Bizon, from Samsung, which has Galaxy AI enabled within its slimmest foldable yet, said: “Our research shows that over 40 per cent of us take photos and videos for the sole purpose to not forget our best memories.

“It allows you to capture and revisit the memories you never want to forget, feeling their warmth and emotion time and time again.”
