Brits have just days left to watch ‘perfect’ action thriller before it leaves Netflix

Netflix is set to remove a slew of shows and films from its platform in September. So, British subscribers have only a few days left to watch some of these, including an action thriller that some fans have described as “perfect”. Amid the huge array of movies available on Netflix, it is easy for some underrated gems to get overlooked by subscribers. However, some of them come highly recommended by audience members who have watched them.

One of those films is The Wave, which was originally released in 2015. This Norwegian film has flown under the radar in the UK, probably due to the fact that it is in a foreign language. However, if the success of shows like Squid Game has proven anything, it’s that foreign language series and films are not to be slept on. When it comes to The Wave, it’s a disaster movie that fans say does the genre justice. For UK Netflix subscribers, there are only a few more days to watch it as it is set to leave on September 5.

The Wave follows an experienced geologist who discovers that a tsunami will soon hit the city of Geiranger, Norway. As disaster nears, he must find a way to help locals and his own family escape as the clock ticks closer to disaster.

The movie was met with rave reviews from critics and audiences. Currently, it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 83 per cent, with fans praising the action and storyline.

One Rottem Tomatoes reviewer wrote: “I wish all disaster movies were like this. Incredibly simple yet so entertaining. The pacing is spot on and the performances are perfect!”

Another said: “There are some frustrating and cliche moments that hold The Wave back from excellence, but it’s well shot, carries a good lead performance, and is occasionally thrilling.”

A third wrote: “The best disaster movie, beats easily any Hollywood flick, very well crafted and acted. It really, really surprised me!” A fourth said: “Bloody brilliant disaster movie; I was on tenterhooks for the whole thing! Hollywood, take note, THIS is how you do suspense and emotion mixed with natural disasters.”

Other flicks that are set to leave Netflix in the coming days are V For Vendetta (2005), Us (2019) and Sicario (2015).
