British Airways sparks fury after making big change to in-flight meals | UK | News

Passengers have been left enraged after British Airways made a major change to their in-flight rules as three-course meals are to be scrapped in business cabins on late take-offs.

Seasoned flyers are outraged as, on departures after 9pm, starters have completely disappeared off the menu with the choice of mains and desserts being heavily stripped back.

On the Club World menu, two out of the four main courses are cheese, crackers and soup with one dessert option being chocolate chip cookies.

Main meals will also feature lighter options of paninis and salad.

BA passengers have shared their outrage over the airline’s decision to streamline meal options, with one customer saying they would “love to see the amount saved per passenger from these cost-cutting measures”.

‘It surely cannot be worth the damage?!’

The new ‘goodnight’ menu has been pitched to take into account customers’ sleeping needs.

However, a passenger expressed his personal choice of not necessarily wanting to just sleep on a flight after 9pm, raging: “If I want to drink I will. Problem is now there is very little food to go with it.

“I guess they don’t want the crew to work too hard.”

An inquisitive traveller has raised another point: “In the absence of a proper main, does this not mean that the economy catering would be more substantial than in Club World.”

There was further criticism from another unimpressed individual who suggested BA may want to become an economy-only airline if more changes are going to be made to First and Club World classes.

They said: “If BA’s bean counters can’t see that First and particular Club are their cash cows, then they may as well drop the class and become economy only.”

A spokesperson for British Airways told The Sun: “We’re incredibly proud of our premium dining experience, which includes a wide range of meal options to suit the preferences of our customers depending on the time of day they’re travelling.

“We trialled our new brunch offering with thousands of customers across numerous routes and received extremely positive feedback on both the quality and variety of options offered.”

The new brunch menu is served on all flights departing between 8.30am and 11.29pm. This is made up of lighter meals as opposed to the traditional lunch menu.

Menu items for this include cheese frittatas, Belgian waffles and poached eggs on sourdough.

However, some frequent fliers have labelled this a downgrade from the previous grilled halibut, chicken wellington and a vegetarian korma that were main course options in First Class.
