It’s well known that Brits enjoy European beach holidays at this time of year, seeking the sun and warmth that is often lacking in the UK’s summer.
The British weather can be unpredictable, with rain, chilliness, and even severe winds and storms, such as Storm Floris that struck on Monday, August 4. This gloomy climate encourages Brits to take flights to sunnier European hotspots like Spain, Greece, and Italy.
Lots of holidaymakers fantasise about relaxing on a lounger by the pool, soaking up the sunshine and getting a tan. Also, in recent years, there have been a number of reports of “sunbed wars” breaking out at popular resorts.
However, Kieran Chapman, famed for his appearance on Married at First Sight in 2024, experienced no such struggle during his stay at a resort in Palma, Majorca. He posted a TikTok video showing many empty sunbeds, left available due to unexpected heavy rain.
The TV personality seemed to relish the wet conditions, lounging on a sunbed in a relaxed pose with his eyes shut. Palma, the capital city of Majorca, Spain, and the largest of the Balearic Islands, is famous for its beaches, nightlife, and typically sunny and warm summer climate.
It seems Kieran was unfortunate with the weather during his visit but The TikTok clip reveals that the Newcastle-born celebrity didn’t mind getting drenched in the heavy rain. In the video, Kieran, a mechanic by trade, was able to savour some peace and quiet as there were no other guests visible around the pool, likely put off by the British-style weather.
The footage is silent except for the now-viral Jet2holidays voiceover meme that has become synonymous with comical travel clips on TikTok. Kieran’s video has racked up 362,800 views, 16,200 likes and a flurry of more than 200 comments, so far.
The clip made viewers laugh, with one saying: “The rays still get to you through the clouds.” A second viewer added: “When you’re used to English weather.”
A third suggested: “That’s probably more relaxing than lying in the hot sun.” One person praised the lack of difficulty to claim a sunbed:”No towels on the sun beds, get innnn.” Another remarked: “At least there’s no queues for the chairs.”
The comments section was filled with reactions like “this made me laugh”, “making the most of it” and “I’m actually howling.”
Kieran isn’t the only one whose holiday was dampened by rain. Other travelers visiting typically sunny spots have also experienced unexpected wet weather and posted their own funny videos online.
