Netflix fans have been left in floods of tears after watching an ‘adorable’ love story now available on the streaming service.
Movie buff EccyReviews, who uses social media to share news about must-watch films and TV series, has strongly recommended the film We Live In Time to all subscribers.
The 2024 movie has been described as a “feel-good romance” following a “talented chef and a divorcée as they fall in love and build the home and family they’ve always dreamed of, until a painful truth puts their love story to the test”.
Directed by John Crowley and written by Nick Payne, it stars Andrew Garfield, Florence Pugh and Grace Delaney – and it has won one award alongside its four nominations.
Speaking about the movie, EccyReviews said: “It’s an incredible and emotional film. It stars Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, who are both amazing in this role.”
The reviewer continued: “The lengths that some of these actors took in this film are genuinely phenomenal. What this film does so well is that it shows different points in their relationship as time skips throughout.
“It’s such a brilliant film. I know so many people who have loved it. Make sure you get this film on your watch list and get it watched.”
Commenting on his recommendation, one user said: “I sobbed so hard – all the metaphors.” Another user added: “This movie hit me hard.”
A third user said: “Awww, I cried my eyes out.” One more user said: “I haven’t cried over a film like that.”
With a 7/10 rating on IMDb, one reviewer said: “Well, it was definitely an enjoyable film to watch with a lot of other people.
“Lots of people in the audience laughing and crying. I didn’t feel emotionally wrecked – I felt uplifted by the performances I saw – Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh are both wonderful in this film.
“They are just so good together – a real sense of trust between them. I heard a man exiting festival hall sarcastically saying to his friend ‘and she just happened to be a world class chef… ‘ I didn’t mind any of that because I believed her.
“I don’t want to see a film about normal boring life – I want escapism, romance, something other than my life but based in truth. A domestic drama but between two beautiful people. I’d definitely watch it again – the time flew by.”
Meanwhile, another added: “Saw this at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
“John Crowley crafts a simple and predictable romance story that isn’t really anything special, yet, captures a beautifully looking presentation with two strong performances from Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh throughout.
“Frankly, sometimes, we need to enjoy a simple cheesy romance narrative and We Live in Time checks all the boxes of the cheese elements together pretty well.
“With good music, simple dialogue, and structure, it still holds an emotional connection with its viewers as the chemistry and banter between the two leads are watchable and good.
“Obviously, because of its predictable style, it does feel a bit long with its pacing and certain elements may put you to snooze, but as a whole, Crowley’s direction and Garfield and Pugh’s performance kept it running.”
