Brewery pulls 5 popular beers from shelves in product recall – ‘don’t drink’ | UK | News

A brewery has urgently pulled several popular beers from sale after discovering a serious labelling issue that could pose a health risk. Three Tuns Brewery has recalled five of its drinks due to undeclared ingredients that could be harmful to people with allergies or intolerances.

The affected products include bottles and cans of XXX, Solstice, Cleric’s Cure, Best, and Stout. The beers are being removed from shops and pubs across the country. The problem relates to incorrect allergen labelling. The beers contain wheat and barley, which are not listed on the labels.

This poses a risk to anyone with coeliac disease or a wheat, barley, or gluten allergy or intolerance.

Shoppers have been told to check 500ml bottles of Solstice, Cleric’s Cure, Best, and Stout with best-before dates of August 2026.

The same best-before date applies to affected XXX 500ml bottles and 400ml cans.

Anyone with an allergy who has bought one of the drinks is being urged not to consume it and return it to the brewery for a full refund.

The warning was first reported by The Sun, which said customers can find the best-before date on the neck of bottles or rear of the cans.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), food and drink products can be recalled if there’s a risk to consumers, particularly when allergy information is missing or incorrect.

The FSA said: “Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.

“When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
