Tyler Mahle had every right to be furious.

The Atlanta Braves right-hander was doing everything he could to keep his team’s season alive Wednesday night. Unfortunately, his defense apparently had other plans.

With Atlanta facing elimination against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Division Series, Mahle watched a routine pop fly turn into an embarrassing defensive disaster that allowed Shohei Ohtani to score the tying run.

His reaction? Four words that perfectly captured the frustration of an entire fan base.

“Are you f—— kidding me?”

No, Tyler. Unfortunately, they weren’t.

The nightmare began when Mahle issued a leadoff walk to Ohtani in the second inning. The Dodgers superstar promptly stole second before advancing to third when catcher Sean Murphy’s errant throw sailed into center field.

Then came the moment that sent Mahle over the edge.

Max Muncy lifted a harmless pop fly into shallow left field, where shortstop Mauricio Dubón raced backward and appeared positioned to make the catch.

Except Dubón inexplicably took his eye off the baseball at the last second, allowing it to fall harmlessly to the grass.

Ohtani scored. Game tied, 1-1.

FS1 cameras immediately caught Mahle delivering his profanity-laced assessment of Atlanta’s defensive incompetence.

Frankly, it was difficult to argue with him.

To Mahle’s credit, he didn’t allow the defensive circus to derail his outing. The veteran right-hander delivered 6 1/3 strong innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out four.

However, the Dodgers eventually pulled away for a 4-1 victory, eliminating Atlanta and advancing to their third consecutive NL Championship Series.
