Former Tory prime minister Boris Johnson has given his verdict on who should be on Santa’s list this Christmas.
The hilarious rundown is to advertise his memoir, Unleashed, where he gives a rundown of people he thinks are “naughty” or “nice”.
The festive video shows Boris Johnson sipping from a “Get Xmas Done” mug while he compiles a list of names – a cheeky reference to his Brexit slogan he used during his successful 2019 general election campaign.
Sat cosily in front of a roaring fire, Mr Johnson digs into a mince pie before getting to work on who he believes has treated him well, or not, this year.
Hilariously, his long time frenemy Michael Gove is listed in both columns, but he doesn’t reveal exactly why.
Below we share who got Mr Johnson’s thumbs up or thumbs down for the year.
Naughty
1. Michael Gove
2. Jeremy Clarkson
In the video, Mr Johnson said: “I wonder… he has stuck up for the farmers. On the other hand, he did publicly gloat about knocking me off the number one spot on the bestseller list.”
3. Leonardo DiCaprio
In his video, he says the actor is on the list for spending “an unconscionably long time on the bog” during the Cop26 summit in Glasgow. It’s reported that DiCaprio snubbed him while there after the former prime minister approached him.
4. Richard Osman
Mr Osman spoke about Unleashed’s sales while on his podcast, the Rest is Entertainment, saying it had sold “far below any of the expectations” that HarperCollins had. The video shows Mr Jonson saying: This will give him something to occupy him next time” as he picked up a copy of Unleashed.
5. Dilyn
Dilyn is Mr Johnson’s and wife Carrie’s dog.
Nice
1. Michael Gove
2. Laura Kuenssberg
“Now, the thing about her is that she was going to do a classic BBC hostile stitch-up interview, but she was very kind and gave me the questions in advance. Nice,” the former Tory leader said.
Kuenssberg was forced to cancel her interview with the former prime minister scheduled for early October, after she sent her briefing notes to him, rather than her team, by mistake. She said at the time that it was “frustrating” and that there was “no point pretending it’s anything other than embarrassing and disappointing”.
3. Nicola Sturgeon
4. Angela Merkel
5. Dilyn
