A body has been found in the search for a man who went missing just weeks after the birth of his child. Brandon Parfitt, 28, went missing from Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, on Sunday evening, just two months after becoming a father to a baby boy.
The new father was last heard from when he spoke to his brother just two hours before he was last seen in his hometown. His brother Tristan and other siblings had made desperate attempts to find him through social media calling on him to return home safely “for the sake of his newborn son.” Gwent Police launched a missing person search on Monday, saying in a statement: “Gwent Police is appealing for information to find Brandon Parfitt, 28, who has been reported as missing.
“Brandon was last seen in Market Street, Ebbw Vale, at around 7.30pm on Sunday, August 17.
“He is described as around 6ft with black hair and beard.”
No formal identification has yet taken place but it is understood that Mr Parfitt’s family have been made aware of the discovery.
Speaking earlier this week, Tristan said: “I last spoke to Brandon on Sunday at around 5.30pm. Since then family and friends have searched the areas of Ebbw vale, Tredegar, and Brynmawr. The police, so far, have not really got a direction of travel.
“They put drones up and helicopters but there is no real police presence on streets. We as a family are just fearing the worst and wish someone would appear with some information or knowledge that he’s okay.”
In a heartbreaking announcement on Tuesday evening, a spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We received a call that the body of a man had been found in Pontygof, Ebbw Vale, on Tuesday 19 August.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, however, the family of Brandon Parfitt, have been notified.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
An inquest is due to be held.
