Bizarre moment OAP on mobility scooter drags fence down busy road

Bizarre video shows a man on a mobility scooter dragging a metal fence along a busy main road.

The pensioner was spotted pulling the unusual load as he stopped at traffic lights in Grimsby.

The large steel palisade fence was tied to the vehicle’s headrest while the man towed it on the road behind him.

The clip was captured by Dean Goodall, 40, who was in a car in the lane next to the scooter driver on Sunday (24/3) morning.

He said: “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My friend was driving and I saw this old fella dragging this metal fence behind him.”

“It was palisade fencing you see at music concerts or fairs. God know what he was planning on doing with it.”

“I’ve only just moved to Grimsby and I’ve never seen anyone transporting a fence like this before. Apparently the driver is quite well known around the town.”

The dad-of-one uploaded the video to Facebook with the caption: “And they say Grimsby is boring.”

Within 24 hours the 10-second clip racked up thousands of views and shares worldwide.

One social media user quipped: “Must be a driving of-fence!”

Meanwhile another said: “Looks like a gate crasher to me.”

Another said: “He’s literally taken offence.”

Another said: “See they can move owt on their scooters.”

Strangely, it’s not the first time Grimsby folk have used mobility scooters to transport fencing.

In 2019 a video went viral which showed two pensioners moving wooden fence panels along a busy road in the Lincolnshire town.
