Bizarre method to revive ‘droopy’ peace lily houseplant

While peace lilies are considered to be a low-maintenance houseplant, it will soon show you if it’s unhappy.

Droopy leaves are a clear sign of an unhappy peace lily plant that wants nothing more than to perk up.

Houseplant enthusiast Riley Smith, known as @sproutsmith on YouTube, revealed how she revived her “droopy” peace lily in just a few hours in a brief video.

After returning from a few days away to find her large peace lily looking “sad” with drooping leaves, she took action to swiftly revive the plant.

Initially, Riley dusted all the plant’s leaves, enabling the peace lily to take in sunlight without a layer of dust blocking the sun’s rays.

Next, Riley watered the plant, as drooping leaves can be a sign of dehydration in this species of plant.

Bizarrely, but perhaps because of the size of her peace lily, Riley watered her peace lily plant in the shower.

Riley explained: “I took it to the shower to soak all the leaves and all the soil completely through.”

Finally, Riley repotted her peace lily into a larger pot with drainage holes to prevent water logging.

Within a few hours, the once droopy leaves perked up, sparking a wave of enthusiasm among fellow green-thumbed social media users.

Riley posted on her YouTube video: “Is your peace lily just as dramatic as mine? They can be so bratty but honestly it’s so fun to see such a drastic transformation in a matter of hours.”

Comments flooded in, with one user revealing: “My peace lily was giving me such a hard time.

“I gave her a shower for 10 minutes and she perked back up. Some leaves turned yellow, but she looks happy and I have new growth. Thank you!”

While another said: “My peace lily was bad guys – so sad. But I put her in the shower and voila! She has perked up! Thank you friend, from the bottom of my heart.”
