Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, the Farmer’s Dog, has shot to fame since featuring in hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm. The boozer takes centre stage alongside Diddly Squat Farm in season four, which was released three weeks ago and has become a fan favourite.
This on-screen attention is driving floods of visitors to the Oxfordshire spot, all eager to sample the gastronomy, soak up the aesthetics, and perhaps encounter the man himself. Among the intrigued patrons was Big Brother celebrity Henry Southan, who made a Father’s Day jaunt to the establishment.
The influencer, who placed third in the TV contest and boasts 183,000 TikTok followers, was curious to validate the chatter surrounding the hotspot.
Astonished upon arrival, Henry shared via TikTok:”I’ve just got to Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, the Farmer’s Dog and got a reservation for lunch for my dad for Father’s Day – it’s like arriving at Glastonbury.
“I feel like I’ve arrived at like a musical festival, there is just so many people. Where are they all going to go? The pub can’t be that big, surely. I’m very confused.”
Capturing the scene on camera, he conveyed his amazement: “This is the overflow car park, like I’m in a field far away from the pub and now I’ve got to trek to the pub. Even with a reservation it’s absolutely wild.”
Henry was concerned about missing his booking due to the lengthy walk – and was also astonished to find a queue at the entrance.
“I tell you what this better the best roast I have ever eaten to justify the pain and the rigmarole that has gone into parking and everything,” he declared.
But when it came time to pass judgement on the meal, his feedback was succinctly scathing. “Really dry” is how Henry summed up the meat, singling out the pork in particular.
He wrapped up his brief video saying: “Jeremy Clarkson’s pub was… interesting.” And he wasn’t the only one to complain.
Joining the chat, one individual shared: “I loved Clarkson’s Farm and I love everything Jezza does for the farming community, but I wont lie when I visited the pub I was SO disappointed!”.
A patron expressed frustration: “We went on opening weekend and didn’t even get to go in the actual pub. Watching the series I understand why now, but seriously sucks being part of the dramatic bits in the show when you’ve driven three hours and get no food.”
However, others defended the famous venue.
An unimpressed TikTok user remarked: “You booked… on Father’s Day. Did you expect it to be dead? Did you expect the food to be like it would be if it wasn’t over booked? Work in hospitality for a bit and then you’d actually be in the real world.”
Another queried: “Really, did you think you were off to your local?” And a third sarcastically retorted: “Booked busiest restaurant in Britain right now – angry when busy?”.
Others offered pearls of wisdom for future patrons – advising them to keep their expectations grounded and to ensure they arrive with ample time on their hands.
One viewer opined: “It’s a pub, it’s not Michelin starred, it’s not famed for its food or its facilities so why expect it. It’s only famous for the guy who owns it and the TV programme it appears on. People need to lower their expectations.”
Meanwhile, another punter who visited the pub over the weekend shared: “I took my dad there for Father’s Day. I went in the pub for a drink but didn’t book for food, that burger from ‘The Farmer’s Puppy’ burger van was possibly one of the best I’ve had in my life. 11/10 fantastic day out just get there early!”.
