What our Post expert thinks about Yankees vs. Mets
The Yankees have the second-lowest bullpen ERA in baseball, but their relievers haven’t been exhausted since the rotation has been so dominant. Despite those numbers, the bullpen still projects as the shakier part of the roster and has shown vulnerability recently, meaning Brian Cashman is likely to add reinforcements at the trade deadline.
The Mets saw Juan Soto finish third in MVP voting after hitting .263/.396/.525 with 43 home runs and 105 RBIs in his first season, though his production with runners in scoring position has been inconsistent. In 2026, that trend has continued, and even with back since April 22, the Mets still rank near the bottom of baseball offensively.
