‘Best’ seaside town in UK’s ‘hidden gem’ the locals are loving | UK | Travel

Only an hour outside of London, seaside city Brighton has got a lot to offer those fancying themselves some beach time while the sun is out. Earlier this year, Time Out has named it as one of its 50 Best Cities in the World for 2025, which was decided by a panel of more than 100 city experts and 18,500 city dwellers.

The seaside hotspot has got a huge variety of attractions, from trendy beach bars to five star restaurants, making it a perfect and convenient weekend trip for those wanting to escape their 9 to 5. But even if you end up unlucky with the weather, there are plenty of ways to spend your time when the weather isn’t looking as good. You can escape from the rain in the iconic Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, which was completed in 1823. You can also try the i360 Tower, which offers panoramic views of the stunning coastline and the city itself.

If you’re planning to escape during the weekend, but not sure how to entertain the kids, Brighton is also becoming increasingly child-friendly, making it the perfect getaway for young families. It has welcomed Revel Puck Circus, an award-winning circus company which originated in London.

Their Nose Dive Assembly is currently showing in Brighton Fringe, and is continuing until June 1. With tickets costing as little as £11, people can be treated to an impressive display of acrobatics and teeterboarding in a fun show which can be enjoyed by the whole family and won’t break the bank.

Patrons will find themselves immersed in circus magic and an impressive performance by a number of acrobatics, aerialists and teeterboaders in the tent. The performance even boasts the only female Wheel of Death duo in the country.

The circus tent also boasts an outdoor bar, which was great in the sun, and there are plenty of attractions in the Brighton Fringe, including rides, a ferris wheel and plenty of food and drink to keep everyone happy.

Matthew, who came to visit Brighton from Australia, came to see the show with his friend Elizabeth, who is local to the area.

He told Express.co.uk: “It was really good, I would definitely come again. I was expecting it to be more child orientated but I was really impressed with it.”

Elizabeth added: “I liked there wasn’t a stereotypical clown, and we both really liked the costumes. I also came to Brighton Fringe last year and was really impressed with the show then too.”

For those wanting to escape London for this weekend’s heatwave, Brighton is definitely a great option to try, with a stunning beach walk, pubs which spill out onto the street and great food options. And with fun options like Revel Puck, the kids are sure to be happy too!
