Beetroots are filled with flavour and they’re a healthy addition to your meals. With this cooking method, however, you can make them taste even better. If you’re looking to change things up in the kitchen, beetroots are the perfect item to add to your dinners in autumn.
While a common way to cook beetroots is boiling them, food and lifestyle site Love and Lemons suggests taking a different approach. Advising people to roast the vegetable, it says: “It’s delicious – the beets come out perfectly tender with a concentrated sweet and earthy flavour. It’s also really easy to make. Just wrap the beets in foil with a drizzle of olive oil, and roast until soft!”
It suggests seasoning them with salt and pepper, or dress them up more with citrus juice, herbs, or balsamic vinegar.
You can also keep them in the fridge for a few days if you make a batch and are hoping they’ll last for a few meals.
To roast your beetroots, you’ll need to preheat your oven to 200C.
Make sure to slice the tops off and scrub them before you place them into the roasting tin.
Don’t worry about peeling them, you can do this after.
Next, wrap each beet in aluminum foil with a drizzle of olive oil and pinches of salt and pepper. Place the foil-wrapped beets on a baking sheet.
Roast until tender which could be anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of your beetroots
