'Beautiful' pair of lonely and abandoned dachshunds looking for a home this New Year

Dog lovers are being asked to help re-home two adorable dachshunds who need to find a place they can live together.

All Dogs Matter shared the heart-melting post of the pair of canines staring into the camera with puppy dog eyes and the image has already been viewed nearly 80,000 times on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The two dachshunds are both brown coloured with one of the animals appearing to have had some skin complaint that is now healing.

They are pictured in a dog bed together and the charity said the pair have “bonded” so will need to be adopted together.

All Dogs Matter revealed this month comedy legend and animal rights campaigner Ricky Gervais is one of their supporters with the comedian donating to their cause.

Captioning the image of the dachshunds, the charity revealed heart-breakingly the two dogs had been abandoned over the festive period.

It said: “Sadly we’ve seen the highest abandonment of dogs pre and post this Christmas, including this pair of gorgeous Daxi’s that will be looking for their new forever home in the New Year. They are a bonded pair so need to be rehomed together.”

One person commenting on the post wrote: “They’re beautiful, and this is such a tragedy.”

Another added: “Look at their gorgeous faces. How can anyone abandon a dog?”

Someone else hoped for a positive outlook for the dogs in 2024, writing: “They are beautiful, thank you for rescuing them, I hope the best loving home deserving of them is just round the corner.”

In December All Dogs Matter posted on their instagram account that comedian Ricky Gervais was helping the charity this year. They wrote: “We wanted to say a huge thank you to our patron, the one and only Ricky Gervais, who has made an incredibly generous donation to go towards the care of our dogs. We are one of 11 charities that Ricky has chosen to support this winter, and we, and our dogs, could not be more grateful.”

It added that Mr Gervais was donating £1.91million to worldwide animal charities with profits from platinum tickets bought for his Armageddon tour.

To register an interest in the dogs the charity said to email info@alldogsmatter.co.uk.
