He characterises his design style as “timeless”, focusing on avoiding trends “that could date” to create spaces that withstand the test of time. Despite being based in the Norfolk countryside, his work has taken him across the UK where he has worked on “show homes, hotels, bars and restaurants”.
On his website, Jack shares: “I love mixing the old world with the one in which we live today, infusing the classical with the modern.”
In 2023, he participated in the fourth series of the BBC show Interior Design Masters. The series, presented by Alan Carr and interiors expert and magazine writer Michelle Ogundehin, follows 10 designers vying for a life-changing contract.
Reflecting on his time on the programme, Jack said: “The experience fuelled my passion for interiors furthermore; transforming unique spaces within tight timelines and budgets was something I thrived on throughout the show. The competition allowed me to realise that I could do anything with what budget and space I was given.”
This philosophy appears to have been applied to a recent bar makeover he shared online. In the video, which was uploaded to TikTok and has now racked up over four million views, Jack can be seen rolling a substantial wooden cabinet into shot.
It features two drawers and two glass doors. Jack placed slabs beneath in the bottom of cabinet section to form two “steps”, which he covered in forest-green square tiles.
He then sliced pool noodles lengthways and stuck them to a board, with the curved side facing upward. Following this, Jack sprayed them with adhesive and covered them with a gold velvet-effect fabric, scoring along each pool noodle’s edge to achieve a fluted look.
This panel was attached to the back of the cabinet, positioned behind the newly tiled area, to form a custom backdrop for displaying bottles and glasses. In one drawer, he utilised guttering – wrapped in the same fabric as the fluted panelling – to fashion a purpose-built wine rack.
Jack completed the makeover with small gold battery-powered lights, suspended glasses, a plant, and additional touches. In the comments section, TikTok users expressed their admiration.
One admitted: “I apologise for not trusting the process.” Another said: “Thank you for not painting it.”
A third was taken aback: “I DID NOT expect that. The drawers!! Actually screaming. You’re a genius.”
A fourth said: “STOP the pool noodles is genius.”
Another user praised the innovative use of materials: “Love how you use items no one would think of.” One person shared: “WOWWW This is the best furniture flip I’ve ever seen.”
Another complimented the aesthetic: “You gave it an old money type of feel and I love it, it’s so cosy.”
And home improvement retailer Lowe’s added: “This might be the most beautiful bar we’ve seen.”
