BBC iPlayer now streaming comedy that had viewers tired 'from all the laughter'

A fresh comedy featuring The Last of Us star Kaitlyn Dever has just dropped on BBC iPlayer, leaving audiences in fits of laughter.

Dever swaps her gritty portrayal of Abby Anderson for the role of Amy, a bubbly high schooler, in the hit 2019 flick Booksmart. As graduation looms, Amy realises she’s missed out on the quintessential teenage antics due to her dedication to academics.

Determined to make amends, she and her best mate Molly (Beanie Feldstein) set out to pack four years of fun into one epic night.

The duo is backed by a stellar cast including Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), and Will Forte (How I Met Your Mother), ensuring non-stop hilarity.

At the helm, Olivia Wilde makes her directorial debut, working alongside writers Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins, and Susanna Fogel to bring this story to life, reports Surrey Live.

Upon release, Booksmart instantly charmed viewers with its refreshing take on female friendship and coming-of-age chaos. Critics lavished praise on the film, culminating in an impressive 96 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The critics’ consensus applauds the movie as “Fast-paced, funny, and fresh, Booksmart does the seemingly impossible by adding a smart new spin to the coming-of-age comedy”.

The film also enjoys rave reviews from fans on IMDb, cementing its status as a modern classic.

“Haven’t laughed that hard in a while,” admitted one cinema-goer, continuing: “I just came out of a pre-screening of Booksmart at my college, and I have not laughed that hard while watching a movie in a long time. I went in with low expectations and I left with tears still in my eyes. One of the best comedies so far this year in my opinion.”

Another viewer hailed the comedy as “funny, clever and quotable”, elaborating: “I saw Booksmart more than a week ago and I still chuckle at its jokes whenever I remember them.

“During the showing, it kept me laughing for multiple minutes straight many times. I wasn’t keeping count, but I did walk away from the movie feeling physically taxed from all the laughter, in a good way.”

“That was a great time!! A simple high-school adventure comedy that has every element to be considered as one of the best movies of 2019,” lauded another film enthusiast.

Booksmart is streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
