Barbie fans can secure ‘exclusive’ new number plate available for eye-watering £1m fee

Fans of Oscar-nominated movie Barbie can get their hands on the ultimate number plate design set to hit the hammer for a whooping £1million.

Absolute Reg has listed the unique ‘BAR81E’ design at the height of awards season with fans of the Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling flick able to take full advantage.

However, potential owners will certainly need deep pockets to grab the design which has a staggering price of £1,048,125.

On top of the staggering bill, the lucky buyer will also have to pay a hefty £80 DVLA transfer fee.

Jake Smith, spokesperson for Absolute Reg said: “This number plate is perfect for fans of the Barbie movie and it would look fantastic on a pink Corvette.

“It will appeal to Barbies and Kens alike but buyers will need to dig deep for the privilege of owning this exclusive number plate.”

To secure the design, motorists simply need to pay the balance and provide some basic information at the point of purchase.

The sellers confirmed: “Absolute Reg only requires the registered keepers name of the vehicle you are transferring the number plate to. This is entered during the checkout process, you will also be asked for the current number plate of the vehicle, please note this is NOT required if you are unsure.”

Motorists can put the new number plate design on all modern vehicles but those with classic cars may be caught out.

Absolute Reg warns the number plate is only valid on vehicles which were registered after January 1, 1967.

This is because the DVLA states motorists cannot make a vehicle appear newer than it is simply by installing a private registration mark.

Meanwhile, those who purchase the design are not forced to install the number plate immediately.

Instead, owners can keep the right to own the licence plate and save it for another vehicle they may wish to secure later down the line.

Finally, Absolute Reg suggests the unique plate can be purchased as a gift.

This could be a special present for a Barbie superfan or simply as an investment project to keep for later down the road.

According to the RAC, the DVLA enforces strict rules governing the correct display of number plates.

As well as not making the car appear younger than it is, designs should not be made from reflective material or display incorrect colours.

Registration plates should not have a background pattern or be designed with altered font or spacing.

They added: “If at any time you display incorrect plates, you will be fined up to £1,000 and your car will fail its MOT.”
