A cleaning guru shared her simple way of getting rid of pesky, unwanted limescale using a surprising drink you probably already have. Georgia, also known as Clean With Georgia on TikTok, revealed her method of choice for banishing limescale is nothing more than Coke.
Limescale forms when hard water – which has a high number of dissolved minerals like calcium and magnesium – evaporates, leaving behind minerals as chalky, white deposits. To combat limescale in the toilet, Georgia poured a generous amount of Coke down the bowl. In the video, she said: “Pour Coke in your toilet bowl to dissolve any limescale and minerals. Leave it for an hour and scrub away.”
Coke can help remove limescale thanks to its acidic properties, specifically the phosphoric acid.
This acid helps to dissolve calcium carbonate and other minerals which make up limescale.
The acids within Coke react with the limescale, dissolving its minerals, effectively removing limescale deposits.
While it may be a quick way to get rid of unwanted limescale, not everyone recommends the method.
Halcyan Water wrote: “Whilst coke has the ingredients that allow it to dissolve limescale deposits it also has a high sugar content meaning you will need to clean any surfaces you’ve used the coke on a second time to remove the sticky, sugar residue on those surfaces.”
Instead they recommend other household products such as white vinegar, which won’t leave surfaces sticky.
They continued: “White vinegar is better not only because it doesn’t leave a residue but it is also more acidic than coke and will clear those stubborn limescale deposits much more quickly.”
Georgia’s video has already been viewed over 47,900 times, receiving 3,428 likes and 15 comments.
One account wrote: “Some cracking tips there thank you, best cleaning video I’ve seen in ages! Tip number 1 is the best.”

Peyton said, “Wow I didn’t know about the coke,” while Ione commented, “You know what, the coke one is genius.”
