A chef has revealed their secret to making the best baked oats. Breakfast might be the most important meal of the day, but busy weekday mornings can often mean grabbing a quick slice of toast or a coffee on the way to the office.
However, having less time doesn’t mean you can’t still have a tasty and satisfying breakfast. Baked oats are easy to make ahead of time, and you don’t even need to put them in the oven. Martin Senders, Philips’ in-house air fryer chef, has revealed how to make a sweet, satisfying take on baked oats with just five ingredients.
One of the best things about baked oats is how versatile they are. So long as you have a good base recipe, you can add different ingredients and toppings to give it whatever flavour you like.
Martin shared his simple baked oats recipe using just five ingredients and your air fryer.
He said: “My secret for an even more delicious baked oats bowl is adding one to two teaspoons of chia seeds.
“These little kitchen cupboard staples can create a rich, creamy texture and help keep the oats extra moist. It’s important to break down the chia seeds with the liquid ingredients so make sure to mix them in well before baking.
“More kitchen cupboard staples like ground cinnamon or vanilla extract can be key in taking your baked oats to the next level.
“Just a splash in the mixture can add a touch of depth to the flavour profile, and have you wishing for seconds.
“If you’re wondering how to make your oats more filling, I’d recommend stirring in some protein powder or Greek yoghurt to get you feeling extra energised in the morning.”
Here’s how to make Martin’s five-ingredient air fryer banana baked oats recipe, which makes two servings:
