Asda is all set to inject a staggering £7 million to improve the stores in a beautiful UK county. The supermarket’s stores in Yorkshire are all up for an upgrade as part of its wider strategy to modernise its estate and enhance the in-store experience.
The supermarket giant shared that it will spend £7.2m upgrading five stores in the county—Kingswood, Harrogate, York, Pudsey and Keighley—by the end of the year. An additional £4.6 million is being invested to upgrade the Grimsby and Stockton stores, with plans to expand the refurbishment programme to more UK locations next year. This means a total of £12 million is being spent on the improvement of various stores.
According to Retail Gazette, both sites will receive a full makeover of the shop floor, featuring easier-to-navigate layouts, new feature lighting, and eye-catching neon signage.
Renovation work is scheduled to start in September and will take about seven weeks per store. Customers can still shop as usual, as all locations will stay open during the improvements.
Asda chief commercial officer for retail and non-food Liz Evans said: “We’re proud to continue investing in the communities we serve – especially in Yorkshire, where our story began 60 years ago.
“Following the successful refurbishment of our Pilsworth store earlier this year, we’re pleased to share our plans to modernise these Yorkshire stores and further enhance the shopping experience.”
