A man arrested by the NYPD on drug charges died a day after experiencing a medical episode while being detained at a Brooklyn precinct, police said.

Reginald Newkirk, 54, was being held at the 67th Precinct in Flatbush while awaiting transfer to criminal court for his arraignment when his health rapidly declined, according to the NYPD.

Emergency responders rushed Newkirk, of Brooklyn, to a local hospital just before 2:15 p.m. on Saturday with an unspecified illness, cops said.

He remained in the hospital and was pronounced dead on Sunday, police said. His cause of death is not yet known.

Newkirk was arrested on Friday for criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to court records.

His death follows that of a 46-year-old detainee on Sept. 9, who suffered a medical episode inside the Central Courts Building in Downtown Brooklyn and died, AMNY reported.

In April, Hector Sierra, 51, and Zamiqua Miller, 33, both died after suffering withdrawal symptoms in NYPD custody, police said.

The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division will investigate Newkirk’s death.
