Argos makes the cheapest Google Pixel even more affordable

When you add the Pixel 9a to your online Argos basket, you can then add the code RED10 at checkout to knock a further 10 percent off that price, taking your total down to £404.10.

Not only that, you’ll also get twice the usual Nectar points when you buy. The offer is available from Argos until Tuesday October 14.

The Pixel 9a is available in pink, purple, white or black with 128GB storage. One thing to consider is whether this is quite enough storage for you. If you use a lot of apps that take up tons of space, or want to store your digital music collection directly on the phone’s memory, you might need to go for a phone with more space.

The 9a is Google’s latest A-series Pixel, from the range that has specs a rung below the flagship Pixel phones but end up costing hundreds of pounds less.

As a tech reviewer I get to try out scores of pricier Android handsets but I love the Pixel 9a for its design, camera and software. It’s one of the only phones going without a fat camera bump on the back, despite fitting in a capable main and ultrawide lens.

The cameras on the Pixel 10 phones are technically a tad better, but I really couldn’t tell the difference unless I was really looking hard. I’d happily use the Pixel 9a as my main phone with photo capabilities like this, and the design is simple and small enough to fit into most pockets (if we can call a phone with a 6.3-inch display small).

I found the phone has all-day battery life thanks to a large 5,100mAh cell, a sharp, bright OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, smooth scrolling screen tech to match the pricier Pixel models.

The phone also runs Android 16, Google’s latest version of the operating system, and it’s a looker. New design means things are more colourful and playful, yet with the simplicity I like in Pixel software that you won’t find on Samsung’s cluttered OneUI.

Google even offers this phone seven years of software updates, so it’ll still be safe to use in 2032.

I’d recommend the Pixel 9a at full price, so to get it for a few pounds above £400 is a great deal. Remember, this offer ends on Tuesday October 14.
