Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin has tied the knot in what’s been dubbed as “one of the most extraordinary society weddings of the year”..
Madison May Brudenell – Lord Mountbatten’s great-granddaughter – married Canadian millwright and welder Bret Kapetanov at a “15th-century village church”, according to reports.
The couple met in Canada when Madison made a visit to some friends in Bret’s hometown of Windsor, Ontario.
William and Harry’s third cousin, 30 – whose grandmother Lady Pamela Hicks was a lady-in-waiting to the late Queen Elizabeth and also a bridesmaid at her 1947 wedding to Prince Philip – stunned in a white wedding gown and glittering tiara and “radiated happiness” as she said “I will” before her handsome beau, also 30.
The bride opted for a bouquet of hydrangeas and white and pink anemones for her big day, while her flower girls and pageboys included her two-month-old baby boy Michael, as well as her children Daphne, seven, Phebe, five, and three-year-old Moses from her previous marriage.
The royal wedding took place at St Mary The Virgin church in Urmston, Greater Manchester, and it was at the same place that the bride was christened.
Madison told Hello!: “I felt really nervous and excited.”
She added about her solo bridal walk: “I decided I’m a mum of four now and my own woman. I can walk myself down.
“Once I was there at the front with Bret, I felt safe. I kept looking into his eyes and everything was fine.”
The groom, who looked dapper in a three three-piece morning suit with a black tailcoat and a top hat from Hawes & Curtis – Lord Mountbatten’s tailor – said: “I was almost ready to cry.
“It was happening and my beautiful wife was walking towards me.”
The ceremony left William and Harry’s third cousin emotional as she recalled: “I was struggling to speak. It’s such an overwhelm of joy – if I’d let my tears go it would have taken a minute.”
Madison’s stunning gold wedding ring contains four diamonds, each representing one of her four children.
She revealed: “It was so special, I couldn’t believe it.
“I’m obsessed with my ring, and I love Bret’s as well.”
