DeWanna Bonner had her older sister cap on.
The 19-season WNBA veteran took on that role as the Dream swept the Mystics on Wednesday night and two of her teammates chose to do pointed celebrations inside CareFirst Arena in Washington D.C.
As the final whistle blew for Atlanta’s 93-75 Game 2 victory, Angel Reese and Allisha Gray put their hands up to wave goodbye to the Mystics as they walked on the court to join their teammates.
Bonner came between the two and pulled their hands down.
Bonner called other teammates towards her at the end of the video, seemingly attempting to gather her team quickly.
The two-time WNBA champ, who had 15 playoff appearances under her belt entering this postseason and years of being under the spotlight, tried to defuse those kinds of celebrations and gestures quickly.
WNBA fans loved seeing the moment as it circulated on social media.
“Dewanna was like “omg, these kids again 😂😂😂” a fan wrote on X.
“Respect to DeWanna on this one 👆” another commented.
A third said: “Auntie said not today we have more basketball to play lol.”
The No. 4 Dream are ready for the semifinals after beating the No. 5 Mystics by 15 and 18 points in the two respective games, respectively.
Atlanta had been eliminated in the first round in each of the previous three seasons.
On Wednesday, Reese tallied 15 points and seven rebounds while Gray scored 22 points and grabbed four steals.
Bonner added seven points off the bench across 14 minutes.
She joined the title-contending team in August as an unrestricted free agent following a contract buyout with the Mercury, who finished 12th in the 15-team league.
Across five regular-season games with the Dream, the forward averaged 8.6 points on 50 percent shooting.
Bonner tallied 20 combined points in the two first-round playoff games.
Atlanta will face the Liberty in the best-of-five semifinal series for a shot in the WNBA Finals.
The franchise does not have a championship to its name and has not been to the Finals since 2013, when it lost to the Lynx.
The series begins Sunday, Oct. 4.
