Angel Reese reacts to Sky trade with telling message

Angel Reese is already having fun with her recent trade.

Following Reese being dealt from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream Monday, Reese took to social media to express her thoughts.

“An Angel’s DREAM. ATL WHAT UP?!” she wrote on both X and Instagram, alongside Photoshopped images of her in a Dream jersey.

Reese was traded to Atlanta for a 2027 and 2028 first-round pick and a second-round pick swap in 2028.

Across her two seasons in the WNBA, Reese has established herself on the court. Last season, she averaged 14.7 points and a league-leading 12.6 rebounds per game. She also shot 45.8 percent, an increase from her 39.1 percent mark in 2024.

Despite her numbers, it didn’t come without off-the-court drama. Last fall, Reese told The Chicago Tribune that she “might need to move in a different direction” if she and the Sky didn’t see eye to eye.

The comments also come as a result of the Sky’s subpar seasons in both of Reese’s years in the league — 13-27 in her rookie campaign and an abysmal 10-34 last season.

“I am very vocal about what we need and what I want,” Reese said. “I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.”

Reese received a half-game suspension from the team for the remarks and apologized both publicly and privately to her teammates.

Chicago general manager Jeff Pagliocca also commented on the situation in the fall.

“Angel is an ascending young talent in this league who’s had two very, very good seasons here in Chicago,” Pagliocca said. “Obviously, we went through what we did. I feel like we closed the chapter on it. She spoke to her teammates. She spoke publicly. We moved on as a team. She’s a special player. And I have good conversations with Angel daily, with her team daily. They’re constant, and they’re productive.”

Reese still has two years left on her rookie contract after being drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Now, those two years will be spent with a different team.
