On Friday evening, the company confirmed on X that its CEO had been placed on leave following rumours of his affair with Cabot.
Pete DeJoy, the company’s co-founder and chief product officer, has been appointed interim CEO, the company’s statement said, adding: “We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days.”
Shortly after the video went viral across social media platforms, amassing more than 18 million views on TikTok alone, Astronomer released a statement announcing an investigation into the situation.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the statement read.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”
Byron has held the role of CEO since July 2023, according to his LinkedIn profile, and was involved in several technology ventures beforehand.
Cabot has served in her role for the past nine months, who describes her as someone who earns “trust with employees of all levels, from CEOs to managers to assistants”, according to her LinkedIn.
Astronomer confirmed that Byron has not released a personal statement, quashing the fake statements which circulated on Thursday.
Neither Byron nor Cabot has commented on the footage.
