An American social media content creator has travelled to Luton, dubbed by some the “worst city in the UK”, and his verdict on the place may surprise some. The US Instagram star, Kjordy, who has nearly 200,000 followers, travelled to the Bedfordshire town “on the hunt” to find the UK’s worst city.
“Visually, it’s not the best”, the social media personality said. “It’s just not the most aesthetically pleasing city”. However, the American was quick to emphasise that the locals were “sick” – slang for good.
In a 10-word statement, he summarized his thoughts on the city: “The greatness is disguised by the lack of good architecture.”
“But it can be a bit gloomy and dingy, and I think that’s why people consider it one of the worst in the UK, but my experience was good. If you’re looking to come to Luton, I say experience it before you judge it because it’s not that bad”.
One local Kjordy spoke to explained why the city has a poor reputation. He said: “There’s always something bad to say”.
Another added, “It’s just the same as any other town, really, but I feel like the difference with Luton is that it’s got so much history; the name is known throughout the UK.”
A third chimed in: “Luton’s got a really bad reputation, but it doesn’t deserve it. There are some areas that aren’t as nice as others.
“There’s a lot going on. There’s a big scene, especially for like all the different types of music and stuff.”
