Tech doesn’t have to cost the earth. (Image: TwelveSouth/Ring/Beats/Logitech/Amazon)
Amazon’s latest sale is under way, and this time it’s called Prime Big Deal Days. It’s running on Tuesday October 7 and Wednesday October 8 and yes, you need an Amazon Prime subscription to get in on the discount action.
The good news is you might be eligible for a free 30-day Prime trial if you’ve not signed up before. It’s available for all new customers.
But what is a ‘Big Deal’, anyway? Spending as little as possible on a good product falls under that description in my book. That’s why I’ve been scouring the tech deals included in the Prime sale to bring you the seven best tech deals under £50.
That price doesn’t always get you quality goods, but these seven picks are qell worth your consideration, and several cost well under £50, too.
Here is the best tech for less than £50 in the Amazon Prime Big Deal Days October sale.

OK, this one is not actually a Prime deal, so any one can get it! It’s just too good not to mention. If you subscribe to Netflix, Prime Video or Disney+ but have no way to watch them on your TV, this is the gadget for you.
So long as you don’t need 4K compatibility, this Fire TV Stick for less than £20 will sort you out. You can hook it up to any HDMI port in any TV, connect to Wi-Fi, and download apps for all the major streaming services and also apps such as BBC iPlayer. If you do want 4K and other perks, the whole Fire TV Stick range is on sale.
Beats Solo Buds
NOW £46 – WAS £79.99

If you want the big Beats bassy sound in as small and affordable a package as possible, the Solo Buds are for you. They don’t have active noise cancellation but they do pack an audio punch, plus they come in several colours including a fetching red with transparent case.
One thing to note is the case does not recharge the buds with its own charge like most wireless earbuds – you need to have a cable plugged in to top them up. But with an amazing 18 hours of battery life beating most buds that cost several times as much, you might not mind the trade off.
Ring Doorbell and Camera bundle
NOW £49.99 – YOU SAVE £89.99

Creeping into our under £50 rule by a penny, this bundle is actually £90 cheaper than buying these two devices separately. You get the 2024 Ring Battery Video Doorbell to affix next to your front door, plus the 2nd-gen Ring Indoor Camera for keeping an eye on pets and security when you’re out and about.
The cameras are easy to install and set up, and the doorbell comes with what you need to fix it to the wall (though you may need a drill). You keep an eye on things or talk to people at the door via the Ring app, which requires a subscription to access all features, but this purchase comes with a 30-day free trial.

Logitech C920S HD Pro Webcam
NOW £44.99 – WAS £99.99

If you think the webcam on your laptop is good, think again. This is a great upgrade if you want to look better on video calls, and an essential purchase if you have a desktop PC with no webcam in the first place. I’ve used this model for a couple of years, and it offers superb 1080p HD capture with a wider field of view than poky laptop webcams provide. It’s a real professional upgrade and works with Windows or Mac.
It is automatically recognised by apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, and FaceTime and also works as a treat for use with your Xbox for online multiplayer. The hinged design lets you perch it on any laptop lid or monitor rim. It’s the tech upgrade you didn’t think you needed, but you do. It also comes with a privacy shutter, but blue lights always illuminate when it’s on to let you know.

If you travel by aeroplane regularly and want to connect your Bluetooth headphones to the inflight entertainment system, this is the gadget for you. It inserts into terminals with a single 3.5mm jack and then connects wirelessly to your headphones or earbuds to get the audio working for you. Look ma, no wires!
It’ll also work in the car or at the gym, or in any device where you want to listen wirelessly via a headphone jack – perfect for things like a modern vinyl turntable or an old CD Walkman.
If you fly on planes that have the old dual headphone jack, you want the AirFly Pro 2 Deluxe, which is on sale for £49.99.
Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter
NOW £15 – WAS £19

It’s a small saving, but it’s an essential item for all iPhone owners given Apple no longer ships chargers in the box with its phones. Even if you have a charger lying around from an old iPhone though, chances are it’s a slow 5W plug. That’s why you need this 20W one for fifteen sheets.
There’s no cable included, but Apple does at least give you that in the box with your iPhone. So whether you need a USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to Lightning cable, it’ll plug right into this brick to charge your iPhone 8 or later, faster.
The Echo Dot and Tapo bulb. (Image: Amazon/Tapo)
Echo Dot and smart bulb
NOW £34.99 – YOU SAVE £39.99
View the deal here
Even though Amazon just announced new Echo speakers they are not on sale yet, which might be why the 5th-gen Echo Dot is on sale. The device is normally £54.99 on its own, so this bundle with the Dot and a Tapo smart bulb is great value at £34.99.
You can use the Echo Dot speaker to play music or podcasts, read the news, ask questions, tell you jokes, set timers and tons more besides. You can also use the Alexa app to set up smart home devices, which is where your new bulb comes in. Set it up and you can turn the lights on and off or change the colour or brightness with voice commands.
