Amazon has cut nearly 40% off its best-selling smart TV and shoppers have said it’s ‘amazing quality’. The 32″ TCL FHD Smart Fire TV has been reduced from £179 to £109, a saving of £70.
This device is currently the number one product in Amazon’s TVs category, with more than 2,000 units sold in the last month. Those looking for a larger screen can opt for the 40″ model at £158, or Amazon’s second most popular TV, the 40″ Hisense FHD Smart TV, priced at £159, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
However, those sticking with the TCL model will benefit from its full high definition screen, offering 1080p resolution that delivers a picture twice as detailed as standard HD TVs. Its sound is enhanced by Dolby Decoder, promising ‘pure, deep and impactful’ surround sound.
The TV also features DTS Virtual X, a surround sound technology that creates an immersive experience by making sounds seem to come from all directions. The TCL is powered by Fire software, providing easy access to a vast array of films and series on streaming apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer.
The TV also comes with an Alexa Voice Remote for hands-free control. While the TCL may not surpass high-end models from brands like Samsung or LG, it offers a cost-effective alternative that’s perfect for a secondary TV in the bedroom or a smaller space.
For those seeking a high-end television without splashing out, the new Sky Glass Gen 2 could be an ideal choice with prices starting from £29 and including access to more than 100 channels, Netflix and Discovery+. Elsewhere, Argos is offering a 10% discount on the 50″ Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV, now £296.10 as part of the retailer’s Big Red Event.
However, the 32″ TCL FHD Smart Fire TV has earned praise from many Amazon customers, boasting a 4.2-star rating from more than 2,400 reviews – 80% of which are four or five stars. One pleased customer said: “The TV is superb value compared to similar TVs, it’s a bargain and really good quality.
“The picture is sharp, colours stand out, it’s slim [and] easy to set up [with] a good quality remote control and decent sound quality. The speakers sound great for a small TV – the sound quality is good and certainly loud enough with clear dialogue and music. The size is perfect for a bedroom or small living room.”
Another said: “I’ve been impressed by a lot of things about this inexpensive TV. Set up was easy, connection to WiFi straightforward and without issue. The sound is well above average for this kind of TV, it’s good, clear and with a good range. Crisp, clear picture with good colour.”
However, one customer pointed out a potential drawback, saying: “It’s a really good TV but you can’t fit it to a wall bracket as there isn’t any screws or fixings to the back of the TV to connect it.”
But this satisfied customer said: “Easy to set up and works amazingly. The quality of the picture is amazing as well. Would definitely recommend. Links with my PlayStation and works perfectly. The price you are paying definitely is worth it.”
