Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has lashed out on social media after his sibling was not introduced until the 71st minute in Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat. The winger was unable to help United find the goal they needed despite piling immense pressure on Tottenham in the final 20 minutes.
Ruben Amorim started Mason Mount instead of Garnacho. The England international has enjoyed a resurgence in recent weeks since recovering from nearly 18 months of injury hell. It meant that Garnacho had to settle for a place on the bench. The 20-year-old eventually replaced Mount in the 71st minute and had one bright moment, cutting inside before forcing Spurs goalkeeper Vicario into a good save.
Younger brother Roberto Garnacho is seemingly unhappy with Amorim for only turning to the Argentina international so late on. In an Instagram post, he argued that his sibling’s contributions in previous round and in other finals warranted a place in the starting 11.
Alongside a picture of the United star, Roberto wrote: “Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in last two finals, just to be on the pitch 19 minutes and get thrown under the bus, wow hahahahaha.”
