Air fryers are all the rage right now but what handiness they may have when it comes to cooking is hurt by how much of a pain they are to clean.
Scrubbing away all of the grease without scouring your air fryer down to nothing can be tricky, not to mention incredibly time-consuming.
Taking to the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips, one woman was seeking a product that would target the grease on her air fryer.
Debbie Meany said: “Can anyone recommend a product to clean my Ninja air fryer?
“It’s got lots of stuck-on sticky grease and no matter what I try it won’t come off, I have tried Elbow Grease, Pink Stuff, bleach etc.”
Instead of reaching for a cleaning spray, many group members recommended a laundry product most will already have a hold of – washing powder.
Tracey Anne said: “Try soaking in biological washing powder and boiling water. The enzymes in the powder break down the grease. Make sure you rinse really well though.”
Cassie Ross wrote: “Hot water straight from the kettle and a bit of washing powder. I swear by it. Mine looked just like that.”
Karen Macfarlane said: “Elbow Grease wouldn’t remove the grease on my air fryer but the cheap laundry powder from Asda did.”
Adele Roons wrote: “I asked the same while back. My fav is putting washing powder in and pouring hot water on it. Leave to soak and clean.”
Other Mrs Hinch fans claimed that leaving a dishwasher tablet to soak in hot water will do the job.
Cara Sidwell commented: “Dishwasher tablet with boiling hot water, leave to soak then scrub with washing up liquid.”
Zoe Mitchell said: “I pop a dishwasher tablet into mine! Leave a few minutes then wipe it away, comes off straight away.”
Leanne Blair replied: “I put a dishwasher tablet in the basket, fill it with water (not too much or it will bubble over), then turn it on for 20 minutes.
“If it still has stubborn bits soak it overnight with washing up liquid. It’s the only thing I have found that works.”
Express.co.uk found that dishwasher tablets work well at removing grease and it only takes 15 minutes.
