The adorable 2-year-old pup abandoned by a heartless traveler at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport has found a forever home with one of the cops who helped rescue him.
The goldendoodle, nicknamed Jet Blue, was adopted by Las Vegas police officer Skeeter Black weeks after it was left tied to a ticket counter at the Nevada airport when its previous owner was told she couldn’t fly with him, the department announced on Facebook Saturday.
“Weeks after being found tied to a baggage sizer inside Terminal 3 at Harry Reid International Airport, the dog now known as Jet Blue is officially on the way to his forever home,” police said in the heartwarming post.
“What began as a heartbreaking act of abandonment has turned into a powerful example of compassion, teamwork, and community partnership.”
Touching video and photos shared by the department showed Black with his loved ones outside Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas with a happy Jet Blue once the adoption was finalized.
The canine was placed into the custody of the animal facility after being ditched on Feb. 2.
Police said the hero cop and his family had been already approved by the adoption agency months earlier in their search for a goldendoodle – and were quickly chosen to give the cheerful dog a loving home.
The helpless pup was rescued at the travel hub’s JetBlue ticket counter after his careless owner was told she couldn’t board the plane with him without service dog documentation.
She then tied the dog’s leash to the counter and marched off to the departure gate, leaving the confused pup behind, according to heart wrenching footage shared by police.
The hostile woman, who was not identified, was swiftly tracked down at the airport and arrested for animal abandonment and resisting arrest.
Police said she made no attempts to reclaim the goldendoodle.
“Today, Jet Blue’s next journey begins this time, surrounded by the people who stepped in when he needed it the most,” the department said.
“Bon voyage, Jet Blue and welcome to a new life where you’ll be loved beyond words by Officer Black and his family.”
