Las Vegas Raiders fans are used to Maxx Crosby’s name being mentioned in trade talks.

The star edge rusher was supposed to get dealt to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange two first-round draft picks back in March, but Baltimore backed out of the deal over concerns surrounding Crosby’s health.

Fast forward about seven months and Crosby’s name is surfacing in trade rumors again, as the NFL trade deadline approaches.

But ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter explained why a trade for Crosby isn’t likely during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”.

“Maxx Crosby, the issue there is he means so much to that franchise. He was the one that was forcing the issue in the offseason; he was the one that wanted to be traded. Initially, the Raiders balked, and then they found two [first-round picks]. And I don’t think they’re getting that back now,” Schefter said.

“He’s an unbelievable player. I don’t think they’re getting two [first-round picks], and so maybe it just makes sense to hold on to him,” he added after noting that the Raiders are still 3-4 and in a decent spot.

“You don’t want to sell off the heart and soul of your team, the face of your franchise. You don’t want to do that. And I don’t know anybody would give up enough to make it happen… The trade talks surrounding Maxx Crosby have lost a little bit of steam,” Schefter concluded.

The NFL Insider is right about how much Crosby means to the Raiders’ franchise and fan base.

These fans might revolt if Crosby were to get dealt in the middle of a season, especially while Las Vegas still has a decent record.

But it doesn’t sound like Raiders fans need to worry about Crosby being traded any time soon.
