Adam Carolla proposes to ‘fix’ Mexico by bringing in Israelis

Conservative comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla sparked backlash this week after suggesting that an “influx” of Jews and Israelis could “fix Mexico permanently.”

“There’s no country that needs Jews like Mexico,” Carolla said on his podcast Tuesday. “Mexico is so short on Jews and lousy with Mexicans, and that’s the problem.”

His remarks came days after violence escalated in parts of Mexico following reports that cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes had been killed in a government operation, allegedly prompting his criminal organization to go on alert and threaten retaliation — raising fears of tourists being caught in the crossfire.

Earlier in the episode, Carolla framed his comments as a broader geopolitical observation, arguing that “Mexico is not fixable because it’s 100% Mexico, and that’s not good. It needs an influx of something else.”

He contrasted that with Israel, claiming the Jewish state “will never be fixed because it’s surrounded by terrorists who are anti-Semitic and want all the Jews to die,” and dismissing the idea that the conflict is primarily territorial.

At one point, he described Israel as “a giant ashtray filled with homicidal people that want you dead,” before pivoting back to Mexico and reiterating that the country “needs Jews like no other state.”

Carolla then floated what he portrayed as a “reverse aliyah,” suggesting Israelis should relocate en masse to Mexico’s Baja California peninsula — a region he described as “breathtaking,” where “the ocean meets the desert,” with a climate he said mirrors Israel’s.

Under his proposal, Israelis would “take over Baja,” establish businesses, improve governance and build infrastructure, transforming the region into a “utopia” within two decades.

“Give Israel — give it to all of your homicidal neighbors, they’ll turn it into a sh—hole in 10 seconds, and you guys move to Baja,” he said. “Baja will now have the greatest resorts and, in general, whether it’s governance or whatever it is, you guys need Jews in Mexico.”

Mexico is home to roughly 40,000 Jews out of a population of about 130 million.

The country’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, is also Jewish.

The outspoken comic has long drawn fire for his hardline takes on COVID-19 mandates, gender and LGBTQ+ issues — earning rebukes from former friends like Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel, and condemnation from advocacy groups such as GLAAD.

Branded by critics as a “right-wing troll,” Carolla has been accused of drifting from mainstream appeal into culture-war provocation, even as he insists he’s simply saying what others won’t.
