A rifle-wielding maniac has been arrested after shooting at arborists and a police drone before trying to escape on a tiny tractor.

Wild footage showed 53-year-old Erik Gordon Shunn’s dramatic arrest in Clackamas County, Oregon, on Saturday.

SWAT units swooped and put up a surveillance drone over the suspect, with video showing him lying on his back firing towards the device.

Erik Gordon Shunn is under investigation following an Aug. 29 shooting incident and subsequent SWAT standoff on S. Rocky Bluff Lane.
SWAT personnel pinned his tractor with an armored vehicle and took him into custody.

Investigators now believe Shunn fired over 200 rounds during the standoff. Shunn eventually set his rifle down and attempted to flee on a red compact tractor.

SWAT personnel quickly seized the opportunity to pin the tractor with an armored vehicle, arresting Shunn roughly an hour after the initial 911 call.

“SWAT personnel used this window of opportunity because they believed it provided the highest likelihood of safely apprehending Shunn,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

Shunn was arraigned on Monday, Aug. 31, in Clackamas County Circuit Court on charges including attempted murder.

First responders immediately checked on neighbors and workers to evacuate them safely from the area. No injuries were reported.

Shunn was arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit Court Monday on nine criminal counts, including attempted murder, attempted assault, weapons offenses, and interfering with a peace officer. He remains held without bail at the Clackamas County Jail.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the incident, neighboring property damage, or prior encounters with the suspect to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 503-723-4949 or online at clackcosheriff.us/submitATip.
