A young royal has become a godmother today at just 13 years old. Princess Estelle of Sweden, who is second-in-line to the throne, is taking on a new role today as a godparent to Princess Ines, the daughter of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia.
Estelle is one of five godparents for the baby princess and was chosen by her uncle and godfather Carl, 46, and Sofia, 40. It is believed Estelle, the eldest child of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, will share a close bond with the baby as Ines grows up in the Swedish Royal Family. The baptism of Ines took place today at Drottningholm Palace Chapel by Chief Chaplain Bishop Johan Dalman and Ordinary Chaplain Michael Bjerkhagen, pastor of the Royal Court Assembly.
As reported by People, a reception and private lunch followed the baby’s baptism.
Despite being just months old, Ines has already made her first ever debut on the royal stage.
In April, Princess Sofia stepped out on the royal balcony holding Princess Ines, much to the delight of royal fans.
Ines is Sofia and Carl’s fourth child, with the royals already proud parents to Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, seven, and Prince Julian, four.
While Estelle, who lives with her family at Haga Palace in Soln, is set to take on the important role of godmother, she is still a while away from taking on any royal roles.
This is because the princess, who will one day be Queen, is still in full-time education, and is likely to be for some time.
