A woman described as an American tourist was delighted by a trip to Blackpool – but infuriated Brits after making a number of seemingly deliberate faux-pas when discussing the iconic town.

A video shared on X showed a woman described as an “American tourist” walking around the popular seaside resort.

However, despite the obvious tongue in cheek nature of the video, it sparked a lot of reaction as the woman made a number of incorrect statements about the town’s geography and history. As a result, the video has gained tens of thousands of views.

She starts the video by saying: “All of you guys told me to visit the city of the Black Pool in Lancastershire [sic]. Apparently it’s like the Vegas of the Midlands so I was really excited.”

Turning her attention to Blackpool Tower, she was impressed by one detail of the iconic landmark – its size.

She said: “First I saw the Blackpool Tower, the inspo for the Eiffel Tower and also one of the tallest towers in Europe – so dope. Someone said they film Dancing with the Stars here, I love that show.

“Sadly I could not go up the tower because it was swaying in the wind, and I also didn’t get to see the Blackpool Illuminati so I’ll be back.”

The next thing to grab the woman’s attention is the arcades. She continued: “So many of you guys told me to go to the arcades, these boujee British, like, casinos, I spent way too much money. Oh my God.”

She then goes on to talk about “baby flying swans” in reference to seagulls before visiting the gift shop adding “they sell all these really sweet vases and urns”.

Concluding the video, she said: “Anyway, let me know where I should visit next in the UK.”

Many commenters were left suspicious given the woman’s repeated mistakes when referring to aspects of British geography and culture.

One viewer suggested she might not even be American at all, saying: “This person is British, she’s putting this on entirely. And it’s brilliant.”

Another said: “I know it’s not real but I still hate her intensely.”

A third chimed in: “This is funny. Blackpool Illuminati? Brilliant! Where do I join?”
