Netflix are removing this classic movie, starring Cameron Diaz, from it’s streaming platform very soon. The Holiday, which is a Christmas staple released in 2006, is only on theplatform for a matter of days.

Diaz stars alongside Jack Black, Jude Law and Kate Winslet in this home-swap style movie. Two girls, one from the UK and one from the US decide to switch homes for the Christmas period to get away from their troubles in love. But their lives are about to dramatically change when they meet the local men.

The film’s synopsis reads: “Dumped and depressed, English rose Iris agrees to swap homes with similarly unlucky in love Californian Amanda for a much-needed break. Iris finds herself in a palatial Hollywood mansion while Amanda navigates the lanes of a picture-perfect English village. Soon enough, both lovelorn ladies bump into local lads perfect for a romantic pick-me-up.”

The popular rom-com is loved by many, with some fans watching it every christmas with their loved ones. But others are not so into it, with one watcher describing it as “very cringe” on a Reddit thread.

The film gets an average rating of 51% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning people either love it or hate it.

The critics consensus reads: “While it’s certainly sweet and even somewhat touching, The Holiday is so thoroughly predictable that audiences may end up opting for an early check-out time.”

A reviewer on the film site said: “A great holiday movie with a fantastic cast and storyline.”

While another added: “Each scene in The Holiday is more annoying than the last.”

People dont love seeing Black in a rom-com role, with one person stating: “Jack Black really takes you out of the moment whenever he is ‘acting’ on screen.”

The Holiday will stream on Netflix until June 1.
