Tourists visiting Turkey urged ‘stock up’ as shops ‘don’t sell them’ | World | News

Tourists heading to Turkey have been told to stock up on one item as shops in the country reportedly don’t sell them. Vape experts at WickdUp have warned holidaymakers headed to popular resorts in the country as an increasing number of British travellers say they are unable to buy even the most basic supplies once they arrive. The company said that, despite vaping being legal for personal use in Turkey, tough rules on tobacco-related advertising and sales mean local shops and resorts often avoid stocking disposable vapes, cartridges, or refill liquids altogether.

This is especially the case in tourist hotspots. “We’ve heard of so many travellers returning from Antalya, Marmaris and Bodrum saying they were caught completely off guard,”expert Mike Byers said. “Shops that once stocked basic vape gear now won’t sell it at all — and if you’re used to picking up supplies on arrival, you could be left without.”

“There’s no outright ban on personal use, but sales are restricted due to strict retail rules.

“Our advice? Pack what you need for the entire trip — and always double-check the latest regulations before you travel.”

WickdUp added that, according to Turkish regulations, visitors are currently permitted to bring personal supplies of vapes and liquids into the country, including:

A spokesperson advised: “Travellers are urged not to rely on local access once in the country, especially in more rural areas or smaller resorts, where vaping products may be non-existent due to enforcement of advertising bans and tobacco-equivalent laws.”

For those looking for “easier vape access” while abroad, WickdUp has recommended considering:

  • France – vaping is legal in public and refill products are widely sold

  • Poland – liberal vape laws and affordable prices

  • Czech Republic – vaping is permitted in most public areas and products are easy to find

The company added: “As always, travellers should consult official government guidance before flying, especially when packing vape products or crossing borders between multiple countries.”
