There will be more clay-court silverware up for grabs in the coming days with the Italian Open getting underway this week. The likes of Jannik Sinner, Jack Draper and Carlos Alcaraz will be hoping to claim the spoils as they look to ramp up their preparations for the French Open later this month. Novak Djokovic will not be involved, though, having decided to skip the event in Rome.
Sinner is competing in his first tournament since being hit with a three-month doping ban, meaning the spotlight is naturally on him. In the women’s draw, Emma Raducanu will also be under the microscope after adding Mark Petchey to her coaching setup. She will face Australian qualifier Maya Joint in the opening round this afternoon.
