Darts player Andy Jenkins has been slapped with an 11-year ban from the sport after being convicted of match-fixing in no less than 12 Modus Super Series events. Alongside the lengthy ban, he’s been hit with a sizeable fine of £17,580. A Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) disciplinary committee found Jenkins guilty of fixing 12 Modus Super Series matches between 22 February 2022 and 5 July 2023. He was also found to have passed information on to bettors.

Despite denying the accusations of match-fixing, Jenkins admitted to placing 88 bets on various matches. His ban, retrospectively effective since November 2023, stops him from participating or engaging in any capacity within DRA-sanctioned events until the date of 15 November 2034.

The veteran, best known for his surge to the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship back in 2007, where he was edged out by the ultimate champion Raymond van Barneveld, must lodge any appeal to his sentence before the deadline on May 6 2025.

John Pierce, the Gambling Commission’s enforcement chief, said in response: “This case sends a strong and unequivocal message to all sportspeople – if you fix matches, you are likely to be caught and face serious consequences.

“Betting customers in Britain deserve confidence that the markets they engage with are fair and free from corruption.

“Our sports betting intelligence unit will continue to work closely with partners such as the Darts Regulation Authority to identify and prevent match-fixing.”
