Standing at an incredible 1197ft Dubai’s iconic skyline has welcomed a new development that has set the benchmark as the world’s tallest hotel. Due to open its lavish doors this year Ciel Tower in Dubai Marina in the UAE, will span 104 storeys and cost £388m to complete.

Boasting over 1,000 rooms the incredible building offers 360-degree views over Dubai Marina, the Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf. Designed in a Japanese style by award-winning London-based architect NORR Group, it will become part of IHG’s Vignette Collection when it opens its doors. The finishing touches are currently being done to the structure with 99% complete whilst 80% of the electrical, plumbing and mechanical work is done.

Yahya Jan of architectural firm NORR was assigned the tricky task of designing the colossal skyscraper on a triangular plot of land with an area of just 2,500 square meters.

The architect says that ‘the curved forms of the glass and metal building are meant to gently reflect in the setting sun.

Designed for the next generation of luxury travellers who prefer the finer things in life the hotel will have a whopping 1,042 rooms, including 150 suites, which will be spread across the tower’s 82 floors. In French the world ‘Ciel’ translates to sky.

Visitors will also be able to take in the sights from Dubai’s highest infinity pool on the 76th floor and around 10 restaurants that will offer sweeping views over the skyscraper-filled skyline.

Travel all the way to the 81st floor and you will uncover the beautiful Observation Deck. Ciel will also boast a fitness centre, a children’s pool, as well as a luxury spa and club lounge.

Every room in the hotel will feature stunning floor-to-ceiling panoramic glasses offering guests an unparalleled experience.

About 12,000 cubic metres of concrete and more than 2,700 tonnes of steel were used for the skyscraper’s foundation.

Despite not being open yet, the building has already received awards for Best International Hotel Architecture, Best Hotel Architecture Arabia and Best High-rise Architecture Arabia, at the 2019 International Property Awards.

It is nine metres taller than the Gevora Hotel, also in Dubai which is the second tallest hotel in the world.
