A brand new book on Hitler’s death is said to reveal the “truth” about the murderous dictator’s death once and for all. Forensic pathologist Professor Klaus Püschel’s book draws on secret Soviet autopsy files, KGB archive material, and never-before-seen pictures of Hitler’s skull.
The book – ‘Der Tod geht über Leichen’ (‘Death Walks Over Corpses’) – is reported to confirm beyond any doubt that the sickening warmonger poisoned and then shot himself in the head as the Soviet Red Army advanced on his bunker. “There’s no doubt anymore. Hitler bit down on a cyanide capsule and seconds later shot himself in the temple with a Walther PPK”, Prof Püschel said.
Forensic reports from a Soviet field hospital in Berlin noted a bitter almond smell – the tell-tale sign of cyanide poisoning– and glass from a crushed capsule was found in the Austrian-born autocrat’s mouth.
But Hitler went further. According to the professor, the fascist leader had a maximum of two minutes before the cyanide would kill him. After biting down on the capsule, he picked up his pistol and fired a bullet straight into his right temple.
“The death of Adolf Hitler was the consequence of a completely failed life – a final act of desperation, with two separate fatal methods to guarantee his own end.”, the professor said.
Hitler’s inner circle dragged his body into the Reich Chancellery and tried to burn it. However, they failed and Soviet forces eventually claimed the dictator’s corpse. A post mortum was conducted between May 7 and May 9 1945.
The chief rumour about Hitler’s body – that he only had one testicle – was backed by the professor. “The left testicle was missing – not in the scrotum, not in the groin, nowhere,” said Prof Püschel.
After burying Hitler in East Germany, he was later exumed. Then, on 5 April 1970, under direct orders from KGB boss Yuri Andropov and Leonid Brezhnev, Hitler’s bones were burned secretly and his ashes were dumped in a stream in the East German city of Magdeburg.
