A royal has left fans divided after a new photograph was released this week to mark her 18th birthday. Queen Mary and King Frederik X’s daughter Princess Isabella of Denmark confused royal fans after a picture was shared on the Danish Royal Family’s social media accounts on Tuesday of the princess dressed very formally while holding an iPhone. This is believed to be a break in royal protocol as royals tend not to be seen with or on their mobile phones.
In the photograph, the royal is smiling while wearing her first official tiara and a tangerine-coloured gown. The image was taken by royal photographer Steen Evald in the Knight’s Hall of Frederik VIII’s Palace. It was taken to mark her 18th birthday, which the royal celebrated earlier this week.
Since the photograph was made public, fans have expressed mixed opinions about the fact she is holding a phone in what is otherwise a formal photoshoot.
One fan wrote on X: “I find it to be quite lovely photo. With Isabella in full gala attire and the jewellery and her phone in hand I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone wearing a tiara with their phone in their hand.”
Another said: “Shame about the phone.”
A third wrote: “This generation always has a phone in hand. So strange to see it matched with a tiara. Very beautiful lady.”
Princess Isabella of Denmark turned 18 on Easter Monday and is believed to have spent the day with her nearest and dearest.
The royal took to social media yesterday to thank royal fans for their birthday wishes. She wrote: “Thank you so much to everyone who helped me celebrate my 18th birthday.
“It has been really nice that so many people have spent their time, thought and effort to make my day so special. This means a lot to me.”
